About the Authors

The Milsub project was born from a deep passion for military-issued watches—specifically the Rolex military Submariner, commonly known as the Milsub. Our aim is to share that passion while providing a clear, authoritative resource for understanding the history, variations, and complexities of these watches. Through research, storytelling, and specialized services, we seek to support their long-term preservation and, where possible, assist in verifying authenticity.

Behind the project are Greg Petronzi of True Patina and TrueDome, and Steve of @moorewatches, @tudorMNDB, and NAABS. Greg is a professional watchmaker with extensive hands-on experience servicing Milsubs, while Steve is a dedicated Milsub collector, researcher, and archivist.

The Milsub collecting community long predates this project. A small number of early collectors and researchers have spent more than 25 years documenting these watches, laying the foundation for nearly all modern Milsub scholarship. We aim to honor their work and, where possible, contribute responsibly to this evolving body of knowledge.

Steve has researched and archived virtually all digitally traceable Milsub information—from early blogs to private archives—and is actively building a comprehensive database of known examples. Greg has serviced more than twenty Milsubs over the past decade, gaining rare firsthand insight into their construction and service histories. This project is the natural convergence of that experience. The site serves as both a public educational resource and a conduit for database cataloging, with authentication support available upon request, in an effort to promote transparency and discourage counterfeiting within the Milsub market.
